Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan are both in New York this week, while a series of meetings involving the Turkish president could have implications for Greece\u2019s interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.<\/p>\n
No bilateral meeting between Mr Mitsotakis and Mr Erdo\u011fan has been scheduled.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the National Herald, Mr Gerapetritis said Greece\u2019s position remained \u201cabsolutely clear and consistent\u201d, arguing that the delimitation of the continental shelf and Exclusive Economic Zone is the sole dispute between Greece and Turkey that could be referred to international adjudication.<\/p>\n
He also stressed that Greece is seeking stability, peace and good neighbourly relations in the Eastern Mediterranean while maintaining its position on sovereignty and sovereign rights.<\/p>\n
The same message is expected to be delivered by Mr Mitsotakis during his meetings with UN Secretary General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres and other international officials, as well as in his address to the General Assembly.<\/p>\n
Erdo\u011fan\u2019s Libya meeting draws Athens\u2019 attention<\/h3>\n
One of the meetings on Erdo\u011fan\u2019s New York schedule that Athens is watching closely is his contact with Mohamed al Menfi, President of Libya\u2019s Presidential Council.<\/p>\n
Turkey has worked to expand its influence in Libya and has maintained its position on the 2019 Turkish Libyan maritime memorandum.<\/p>\n
