The classification of the lot must be checked first.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-what-documents-should-buyers-check\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What documents should buyers check?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each AADE auction listing can contain several important documents, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u0391\u03bd\u03b1\u03ba\u03bf\u03af\u03bd\u03c9\u03c3\u03b7<\/strong>, the auction announcement<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u03ae\u03c1\u03c5\u03be\u03b7<\/strong>, the declaration and terms of sale<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u03a3\u03c4\u03bf\u03b9\u03c7\u03b5\u03af\u03b1 \u03bf\u03c7\u03b7\u03bc\u03ac\u03c4\u03c9\u03bd<\/strong>, the vehicle details<\/li>\n<li>Photographic material for vehicles offered for circulation, where available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AADE provides these documents directly through its auction portal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The photographs can help buyers identify obvious problems, but they should not be treated as a substitute for checking the full auction documentation and any available inspection arrangements.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-the-2026-rules-have-changed\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 2026 rules have changed<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is another important point for anyone considering a bid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under changes introduced in February 2026, the deadline for paying for a vehicle won at auction was reduced from <strong>30 days to 10 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deadline for collecting the vehicle was also reduced from <strong>45 days to 20 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, AADE abolished the previous <strong>30% discount for one off payment<\/strong>, as well as alternative payment arrangements involving 24 quarterly instalments and the previous 72 interest free instalments available to serving public employees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The changes are set out in AADE decision <strong>\u0394\u0399.\u0394.\u0395.\u03a0. 99576 \u0395\u039e 2026<\/strong> and the amended framework published in <strong>Government Gazette 881 \u0392\u2019\/18.02.2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means a successful bidder needs to be financially prepared before entering the auction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Winning the vehicle first and trying to arrange the money afterwards is no longer compatible with the new 10 day payment deadline.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-a-2-000-starting-price-does-not-mean-a-2-000-car\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">A \u20ac2,000 starting price does not mean a \u20ac2,000 car<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The starting bid is only one part of the calculation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A buyer should also consider:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the mechanical condition of the engine<\/li>\n<li>the gearbox<\/li>\n<li>the electrical system<\/li>\n<li>tyres and battery<\/li>\n<li>possible accident damage<\/li>\n<li>corrosion<\/li>\n<li>how long the vehicle has been sitting unused<\/li>\n<li>transportation costs<\/li>\n<li>repairs<\/li>\n<li>registration and other administrative procedures<\/li>\n<li>any other costs specified in the auction terms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A vehicle that looks inexpensive at auction can require substantial additional spending before it becomes usable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is particularly important with vehicles that have been stored for long periods. A photograph may show the bodywork, but it cannot establish the condition of an engine, gearbox, electronics or other mechanical components.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-never-rely-on-photographs-alone\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Never rely on photographs alone<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photographs are useful for eliminating obviously unsuitable vehicles, but they provide only limited information about the actual condition of a car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before bidding, buyers should carefully read the <strong>\u0394\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u03ae\u03c1\u03c5\u03be\u03b7<\/strong> and establish whether the particular vehicle can be inspected and under what conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The auction documentation should also be checked for information relating to the vehicle\u2019s status, equipment and any restrictions applying to the particular lot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most important mistake to avoid is treating an AADE auction as an ordinary used car dealership.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government auction process can offer vehicles at attractive starting prices, but the buyer assumes the risk associated with the condition of the vehicle and must calculate the total cost of the purchase.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-what-buyers-should-do-before-september-24\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What buyers should do before September 24<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone considering bidding should follow a simple checklist:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1.
