Following news of his death at the age of 54, social media filled with messages from singers, actors and other figures from Greek music and television, who shared memories and said goodbye to the much-loved performer.<\/p>\n
Greek artists pay tribute<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Television presenter and radio personality Grigoris Arnaoutoglou wrote about the sudden loss: \u201cSafe travels, George\u2026 wherever you are going, may your soul find peace.\u201d<\/p>\n Television presenter Katerina Kainourgiou shared a photograph of herself with Mazonakis and wrote an emotional tribute, recalling the man behind the celebrated performer.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom today, \u2018Small Hours\u2019 will have a different silence\u2026 and \u2018where you are missed, it fell heavy\u2019 will no longer be just a lyric,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n Kainourgiou said she had the opportunity to know Mazonakis, even if only briefly, as a person rather than simply as a major artist.<\/p>\n She described him as talented, multifaceted, sensitive, unpredictable and authentic, adding that he was the kind of personality who left a lasting mark wherever he went.<\/p>\n \u201cYou were a real star. Safe travels.\u201d<\/p>\n Veteran singer Anna Vissi also shared an image of Mazonakis, writing: \u201cI have no words, only deep sadness.\u201d<\/p>\n Nikos Mouratidis recalls his struggles<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Manager and radio producer Nikos Mouratidis also spoke about difficulties Mazonakis had faced over many years.<\/p>\n Speaking on Alpha television, Mouratidis said the singer had battled fears for decades.<\/p>\n \u201cGiorgos had so many fears from the beginning. He would wake up suddenly at night.
