Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has written to Ursula Von der Leyen to request that the European Commission consider new ways to bring down gas and electricity prices.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrices are telling us we need to move faster but also differently \u2013 to think about new ways to tackle the problems that confront us,\u201d Mitsotakis said in the letter, according to Bloomberg News.<\/p>\n

Mitsotakis urged the EU to better integrate national grids and said it needs a new push in gas security.<\/p>\n

\u201cShifts in the geopolitical landscape make this task even more urgent,\u201d he said, underlining that even though Europe is preparing for a future where gas will play a smaller role, \u201cwe will depend on gas for at least two decades.\u201d<\/p>\n

He called on the EU to empower European companies to invest in gas projects and infrastructure and to sign contracts that guarantee access to global supplies.<\/p>\n

For electricity, the prime minister called for a task force to be set up to increase flows across borders where there are significant price disparities.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
