Chaos erupted in Kosovo\u2019s parliament on Saturday when a female opposition MP threw eggs at acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, forcing the session to stop.<\/h3>\n

The incident occurred as parliament<\/a><\/strong> tried to overcome a prolonged political deadlock following the snap election on June 7.<\/p>\n

Tensions escalated after Kurti told MPs that he needed more time for consultations over the formation of a new government.<\/p>\n

Shortly afterwards, an opposition MP threw eggs at Kurti inside the parliamentary chamber, prompting officials to suspend the session.<\/p>\n

Political deadlock<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

The incident provided another sign of the deeply confrontational atmosphere surrounding Kosovo\u2019s political scene.<\/p>\n

The June 7 election did not give Kurti\u2019s Vet\u00ebvendosje (Self-Determination) party the parliamentary majority it needs to govern without support from other political forces.<\/p>\n

Negotiations over the formation of a government have remained difficult since the election, leaving Kosovo facing prolonged political instability.<\/p>\n

Kurti remains head of the caretaker government and is seeking the parliamentary support needed to form a new administration.<\/p>\n

The opposition, however, is demanding an end to the political crisis and has objected to efforts to extend the government-formation consultations.<\/p>\n
