The project, announced by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, will significantly modernise the airport to accommodate growing tourism demand while enhancing safety and operational efficiency.<\/p>\n
New Terminal and Extended Runway<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n The redevelopment includes the construction of a 12,117-square-metre passenger terminal, a new air traffic control tower, a fire station, a security building and a permanent wastewater treatment facility.<\/p>\n The project will also upgrade the airport\u2019s internal road network and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n A key feature of the expansion is the extension of the airport\u2019s runway from 1,400 metres to 1,799 metres, along with a larger aircraft apron, new safety infrastructure and modern electrical and mechanical systems.<\/p>\n Archaeological and Utility Works Included<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n The funding package also covers archaeological investigations and the relocation or restoration of public utility networks, ensuring the project progresses in accordance with regulatory requirements.<\/p>\n Construction is scheduled for completion by 31 December 2030.<\/p>\n Government Highlights Tourism Benefits<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Dimas said the upgraded airport will provide modern facilities, greater operational capacity and improved passenger services to meet the island\u2019s growing needs.<\/p>\n \u201cUpon completion, the new Paros Airport will feature modern infrastructure, increased operational capability and upgraded services, meeting the island\u2019s continuously growing demands while strengthening its tourism and development potential,\u201d Dimas said.<\/p>\n He added that investing in airport infrastructure improves connectivity for Greece\u2019s islands and creates long-term economic opportunities for local communities.<\/p>\n
