This advancement builds on the successful pilot program implemented in April 2024 on express airport bus lines.<\/p>\n<p>These payments account for 9% of total transactions on those lines, highlighting the growing popularity of the EMV-Tap &amp; Pay system. Passengers can now avoid queues at ticket machines and enjoy simplified travel, as the system automatically calculates the most cost-effective fare based on usage.<\/p>\n<p>This innovation positions Athens alongside cities like Madrid, Milan and London in offering modern, convenient transit solutions.
