Airbus\u2019 A350-1000ULR test aircraft for Qantas\u2019 Project Sunrise has returned to Toulouse after a non-stop flight lasting 24 hours and 10 minutes from Melbourne Airport.<\/p>\n The aircraft, registered F-WULR, flew across the Pacific, the United States and the Atlantic on the return leg of its major flight-test campaign. The marathon journey marks one of the longest continuous flights ever undertaken by a commercial aircraft type.<\/p>\n The specially modified A350-1000ULR is designed for Qantas\u2019 Project Sunrise programme, which will introduce the world\u2019s longest commercial non-stop routes, including Sydney\u2013London, from late 2027. The aircraft features an additional fuel tank allowing commercial flights of up to 22 hours.<\/p>\n The test campaign has validated the aircraft\u2019s systems under extreme long-range conditions. Two Qantas pilots joined the Airbus flight-test crew for the return journey from Melbourne.<\/p>\n Qantas plans to take delivery of 12 A350-1000ULR aircraft, each configured with 238 seats across four cabins.
