A well-known hijab-wearing Turkish influencer has been arrested and remanded in custody after Ankara\u2019s General Prosecutor\u2019s Office opened an investigation into her TikTok and Instagram posts. Fatma Soyda\u015f, who posts under the username \u201cfffatmaase_,\u201d faces charges linked to publicly insulting religious values and publishing indecent material.<\/h4>\n
Prosecutors launched the probe under Article 216\/3 of the Turkish Penal Code, which covers public insults to religious values held by a section of the population. Authorities located Soyda\u015f in Istanbul, issued an arrest warrant, and took her into custody. A court later ordered her pretrial detention. The investigation is described as ongoing and thorough.<\/p>\n
Ankara\u2019s 5th Peace Court also ordered access blocked to the social media accounts that contained the disputed material.<\/p>\n
In an official statement, the prosecutor\u2019s office said: \u201cDue to the fact that the content shared by social media user Fatma Soyda\u015f under the username \u2018fffatmaase_\u2019 on her TikTok and Instagram accounts constitutes the crime of \u2018Public Insult to Religious Values Adopted by a Section of the Public\u2019 as defined in Article 216\/3 of the Turkish Penal Code, our General Prosecutor\u2019s Office has initiated an investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n Presidential adviser Oktay Saral defended the authorities\u2019 actions. He said measures against those who insult religious values were justified, adding: \u201cThese deviant mindsets that try to promote insults against our faith with cheap and disgusting content should know that Turkey is not a country where the enemies of religion can roam freely.\u201d<\/p>\n The specific posts that triggered the case have not been publicly detailed by prosecutors. The influencer had previously described some of her photos and content as staged or generated by artificial intelligence.
