New research by UK consumer group Which?<\/strong> found that package holidays to 53 of 71 European destinations<\/strong> are now cheaper than they were in March, with Greece among the biggest winners for late-season bargains.<\/p>\n The study analysed more than 17,000 August package holidays<\/strong> offered by easyJet Holidays, Jet2 Holidays and TUI<\/strong>, comparing prices available in March with those in July.<\/p>\n Industry experts say uncertainty surrounding tensions in the Middle East earlier this year prompted many travellers to delay booking their holidays. With regional tensions easing, tour operators are now offering significant discounts to fill remaining summer departures.<\/p>\n Greek destinations feature prominently in the list of Europe\u2019s cheapest late-summer package holidays.<\/p>\n Kefalonia<\/strong> ranks among the best-value destinations, with an average seven-night package holiday now costing \u00a3829 per person<\/strong>, around 11% less<\/strong> than in March.<\/p>\n The Peloponnese<\/strong> has seen even larger reductions, with average package prices falling 16%<\/strong> to around \u00a3903 per person<\/strong>, making southern Greece one of Europe\u2019s best-value destinations for August travel.<\/p>\n According to Which?, Kefalonia continues to receive high satisfaction ratings from visitors thanks to its crystal-clear beaches, picturesque villages and the harbour town of Fiskardo.<\/p>\n Turkey has experienced some of the steepest price reductions.<\/p>\n Package holidays to the Dalaman region<\/strong> now average \u00a3808 per person<\/strong>, a 14% decrease<\/strong> since March.<\/p>\n Even bigger savings are available in Fethiye<\/strong>, where average August package prices have dropped from \u00a31,759<\/strong> to \u00a31,042<\/strong>\u2014a saving of more than \u00a3700<\/strong>. Nearby \u00c7al\u0131\u015f Beach<\/strong> has also seen prices fall by around 37%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Holidaymakers looking beyond Greece can also find lower prices in several popular destinations.<\/p>\n Spain\u2019s Costa Dorada<\/strong>, Gran Canaria<\/strong>, Costa Blanca<\/strong>, Tenerife<\/strong>, Costa Brava<\/strong>, Malta and parts of Italy have all recorded lower package prices compared with spring bookings.<\/p>\n Portugal\u2019s Algarve has also become more affordable, with average August package holidays now costing around \u00a3213 less<\/strong> than they did in March.<\/p>\n Tour operators say travellers who are flexible with departure dates, airports or destinations are most likely to secure the biggest discounts.<\/p>\n TUI reported a noticeable shift towards last-minute bookings this summer, resulting in more competitive prices for August departures.<\/p>\n Which? based its research on seven-night package holidays departing around 2 August<\/strong>, including flights and accommodation for two adults, across a range of board options from room-only to all-inclusive.<\/p>\n While prices have fallen across much of Europe, travellers are still advised to check the latest government travel advice before booking, particularly for destinations in the Middle East, where conditions can change quickly.<\/p>\nGreece among Europe\u2019s best-value destinations<\/h3>\n
