class=\"wp-block-heading\">Greece\u2019s ruling <strong>New Democracy (ND)<\/strong> remains comfortably ahead in the latest <strong>GPO poll<\/strong> for <strong>iefimerida.gr<\/strong>, despite recording a slight decline in support, while <strong>ELAS<\/strong> has consolidated second place and <strong>PASOK<\/strong> continues to lose ground.<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The survey also found that support for <strong>Maria Karystianou\u2019s<\/strong> proposed political movement has fallen significantly since June, while speculation over a possible new party led by former Prime Minister <strong>Antonis Samaras<\/strong> appears to be gathering momentum.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-nd-leads-comfortably\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">ND leads comfortably<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In voting intention, New Democracy received <strong>25.7%<\/strong>, down marginally from <strong>26%<\/strong> in the previous poll.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ELAS remained in second place with <strong>14.5%<\/strong>, while PASOK slipped to <strong>9.5%<\/strong>, continuing its downward trend after polling <strong>10.2%<\/strong> a month earlier.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" Karystianou\u2019s proposed political movement, <strong>\u201cElpida\u201d (Hope)<\/strong>, also recorded a notable decline, dropping to <strong>6.1%<\/strong> from <strong>9.2%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Communist Party of Greece (KKE)<\/strong> and <strong>Greek Solution<\/strong> each polled <strong>8%<\/strong>, while <strong>Plefsi Eleftherias<\/strong> and <strong>Foni Logikis<\/strong> recorded modest gains.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-vote-estimate\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vote estimate<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After allocating undecided voters, the estimated election result places New Democracy on <strong>29.3%<\/strong>, maintaining a commanding lead over its rivals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The projected results are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New Democracy (ND):<\/strong> 29.3%<\/li>\n<li><strong>ELAS:<\/strong> 16.6%<\/li>\n<li><strong>PASOK:<\/strong> 10.8%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Greek Solution:<\/strong> 9.1%<\/li>\n<li><strong>KKE:<\/strong> 9.1%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maria Karystianou \u2013 Elpida:<\/strong> 7.0%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other parties:<\/strong> 5.3%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plefsi Eleftherias:<\/strong> 4.6%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Foni Logikis:<\/strong> 3.2%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Niki:<\/strong> 1.7%<\/li>\n<li><strong>MeRA25:<\/strong> 1.7%<\/li>\n<li><strong>SYRIZA:<\/strong> 1.6%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"h-economy-remains-top-concern\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Economy remains top concern<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The poll found that the <strong>economy<\/strong>, particularly the rising <strong>cost of living<\/strong>, remains the issue most likely to influence how Greeks vote at the next election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other key concerns include tackling corruption, strengthening the rule of law and improving everyday quality of life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Respondents indicated they place greater importance on parties\u2019 policy proposals than on the personal image of political leaders.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-pasok-struggles-to-capitalise\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">PASOK struggles to capitalise<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite criticism surrounding the government, PASOK has failed to convert voter dissatisfaction into increased support.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only <strong>18.6%<\/strong> of respondents viewed PASOK\u2019s performance as the main opposition positively, while almost <strong>eight in ten<\/strong> assessed it negatively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The findings suggest many voters remain unconvinced that the party offers a credible alternative government.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which government was better?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked whether life was better under the governments of <strong>New Democracy<\/strong> or <strong>SYRIZA<\/strong>, <strong>41.5%<\/strong> of respondents said there was <strong>no significant difference<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>28.9%<\/strong> said they were better off under New Democracy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>26.7%<\/strong> preferred the SYRIZA government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results point to a widespread feeling of stagnation rather than strong approval or rejection of either administration.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-trust-on-key-issues\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Trust on key issues<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New Democracy continues to lead on issues relating to the <strong>economy<\/strong> and <strong>foreign policy<\/strong>, polling <strong>32.3%<\/strong> and <strong>39.2%<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On <strong>social policy<\/strong>, ELAS held a slight advantage, although this has yet to translate into broader electoral gains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it comes to combating corruption, however, no party enjoys overwhelming public confidence.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>ELAS:<\/strong> 24.2%<\/li>\n<li><strong>New Democracy:<\/strong> 21.7%<\/li>\n<li><strong>PASOK:<\/strong> 13.3%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A further <strong>38.7%<\/strong> of respondents said they <strong>trusted none of the major parties<\/strong> to tackle corruption effectively.<\/p>\n<h3 party led by former Prime Minister <strong>Antonis Samaras<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proportion of respondents saying they would be <strong>\u201cvery\u201d or \u201cquite likely\u201d<\/strong> to support such a party rose from <strong>9.2% in June<\/strong> to <strong>12.3% in July<\/strong>, indicating growing curiosity about a potential new conservative political
