Greece on Wednesday announced rules for the \u201csafe, transparent and educationally responsible\u201d use in the country\u2019s schools of artificial intelligence, which will be allowed for homework but not during exams or tests, or to assess pupils\u2019 or teachers\u2019 performance.<\/p>\n
A joint statement by the ministries of education and digital governance said the regulatory framework would keep the use of AI optional for both pupils and teaching staff.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe aim is for the technology to serve as a tool that will support learning and not as a substitute for personal effort, critical thought and teachers,\u201d the statement said. \u201cThe use of AI tools remains optional for pupils and educators, is not linked with their assessment and is always carried out under the supervision of teaching staff.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The ministries said the new framework would expressly forbid the creation and distribution of deepfake content without consent, the citation of fake bibliography or non-existent sources, the unauthorized development or use of AI applications and the fully automated assessment of pupils and staff.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the statement said, there will be a ban on the listing of names photographs, voice samples, marks, health data and any other information that could identify pupils or teachers.<\/p>\n
\u201cUse of AI tools will not be allowed during written exams or tests, unless their strictly regulated use has been permitted,\u201d it added. \u201cStudent assignments cannot be created in their entirety or to a significant extent by artificial intelligence applications.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each school will have to designate a teacher responsible for coordinating AI use, while AI access will be through users logging onto the nationwide state school network.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
