He will be transferred to a prison outside the island.<\/p>\n<p>The man\u2019s 56-year-old wife, who was present during the shooting, was also remanded in custody. The hearing took place at police headquarters in Iraklio under heightened security measures and earlier than originally scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Friday, a lawyer representing the victim\u2019s family described the killing as a \u201cpremeditated execution,\u201d alleging the suspect also insulted and assaulted the victim\u2019s body after the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>The victim\u2019s funeral took place on Thursday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Defense lawyers said the accused gave lengthy testimony while under severe emotional strain. According to the defense, the suspect held the victim responsible for the 2023 car crash that killed his 17-year-old son after 19 days in hospital.
