A drug-fueled private party in a rented villa in Kalyvia, eastern Attica, led to the arrest on Monday morning of 10 people, including a British DJ of Azeri descent who is accused of organizing the event.<\/p>\n
Among those detained were two individuals charged with drug trafficking, including the DJ, and three Greek police officers allegedly working as bouncers.<\/p>\n
The drug bust uncovered cocaine, ecstasy, cannabis, ketamine, LSD and methamphetamines, in addition to \u20ac44,000 in cash stored in a safe.<\/p>\n
The DJ, who is also known for her ties to high-profile figures in Azerbaijan, was linked to money laundering investigations in the UK. She and her husband were reported in the Evening Standard in December 2020 for their involvement in a money laundering scheme using illicit funds to finance lavish lifestyles, including luxury travel and model school fees. A few months later, in June 2021, there was a similar report about the woman and her husband by the Organized Crime And Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).<\/p>\n
The police operation was based on information gathered about a \u201cMikaela and friends\u201d party that had been taking place for several days in the villa, which had been rented for the occasion.<\/p>\n
This incident adds to the mounting scrutiny on the artist\u2019s alleged connections to Azerbaijan\u2019s ruling elite, with media reports suggesting she is the cousin of the Azeri president.<\/p>\n
