The National Meteorological Service (EMY) has issued an updated weather warning on Friday, forecasting a new wave of severe weather starting Saturday.<\/p>\n
While rainfall and snowfall are expected to ease in most areas on Friday, conditions will worsen across eastern Greece by Saturday.<\/p>\n
In particular, the southern island of Crete will experience heavy rain and thunderstorms, with snow in the mountainous regions. Eastern Macedonia and Thrace will see heavy snowfall in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas, starting in the early evening, with snow levels dropping to lower altitudes during the night.<\/p>\n
Strong northeasterly winds will also cause concern in the Aegean Sea, eastern and southern Evia, eastern Attica, and parts of the eastern Peloponnese. Winds are expected to reach 8 to 9 Beaufort, gradually decreasing to 8 Beaufort by the afternoon.<\/p>\n
Saturday will bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to central and southern Aegean regions, including the Sporades in the morning, the island of Evia until midday, the Cyclades, the eastern Aegean islands, parts of Crete, and the Dodecanese in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
Snowfall is expected in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of the mainland, including the mountains of Evia, Attica in the morning, the northern and eastern Aegean islands, the northern Cyclades, and Crete. In eastern Macedonia and Thrace, heavy snow will continue into the morning, while in Evia and central Greece, snowfall will persist into the early hours of the day.<\/p>\n
Strong northeasterly winds will remain in the Aegean, with gusts reaching up to 9 Beaufort.<\/p>\n
