The return of Easter holiday travelers continued at full pace Monday evening, with increased congestion recorded on roads, ports and transport hubs across the country.<\/p>\n
According to state broadcaster ERT, long queues formed at the Elefsina tolls west of Athens, with traffic slowing significantly from Kiato through Agioi Theodoroi and Kineta to Nea Peramos.\u00a0<\/p>\n
North of the capital, conditions were relatively improved on the Athens-Lamia highway, although delays were reported between Avlona and Malakasa, along with minor slowdowns at the Afidnes road tolls.<\/p>\n
At the port of Piraeus, traffic surged as 14 arrivals from Aegean destinations and 34 from the Saronic Gulf were scheduled. Increased activity was also recorded at the port of Rafina, with 15 sailings, and at Lavrio, where eight arrivals from the Cyclades were expected.<\/p>\n
Traffic at Athens\u2019 KTEL Kifissou intercity bus depot was steadily increasing Monday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Road congestion was also noted in northern Greece, particularly at the Malgara tolls near Thessaloniki, where queues exceeded two kilometers in lanes heading into the city.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Authorities opened additional toll gates to ease the flow, though traffic remained heavy, including for travelers returning to destinations such as Kavala, Thasos, Halkidiki and Larissa.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
