Qatar Airways is expanding its Airbus A380 operations to London Heathrow, doubling its daily superjumbo services during the upcoming Northern Hemisphere winter season to meet strong travel demand.
The airline will operate two daily Airbus A380 flights between Doha’s Hamad International Airport and London Heathrow for much of the November 2026 to February 2027 winter schedule. This marks the return of a twice-daily A380 operation on the route for the first full winter season since 2023/24.
The expanded schedule will complement flights operated by British Airways, Qatar Airways’ close partner, giving passengers up to 11 daily services between Doha and London on most days. Depending on the day of the week, the combined schedule will range from nine to 12 daily departures.
A significant number of the early morning departures from Doha are timed to connect with Qatar Airways’ extensive overnight arrivals from destinations across the Asia-Pacific region, allowing seamless onward travel to the UK.
Heathrow remains a key A380 hub
During the winter season, London Heathrow will host Airbus A380 operations from six airlines:
- British Airways
- Emirates
- Etihad Airways
- Qantas
- Qatar Airways
- Singapore Airlines
Together, these carriers are expected to operate an average of 20 daily A380 departures, underlining Heathrow’s position as one of the world’s leading hubs for the iconic double-decker aircraft.
The increase comes as airlines continue to restore and expand A380 services on high-demand long-haul routes, with Qatar Airways boosting capacity on one of its busiest European destinations.
