Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias has begun an official visit to Qatar and Australia, where he will hold high-level meetings focused on defence cooperation, innovation and security.
The visit, which runs from Tuesday to Friday, begins in Doha, where Dendias is scheduled to be received by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at Lusail Palace. During the meeting, he will convey Greece’s condolences following the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Dendias will then travel to Australia, where his itinerary includes meetings with leading defence technology companies and research institutions specialising in robotics, innovation and emerging defence technologies.
While in Australia, the minister will also meet government officials, members of the Greek Australian community and academics.
On Thursday, Dendias will attend a service at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Sydney, led by Archbishop Makarios of Australia, before holding a private meeting with the Archbishop at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.
Later that day, he will speak at Business Sydney, participating in a discussion titled “Security in the Southeast Mediterranean”, where regional security and strategic cooperation are expected to feature prominently.
The visit concludes on Friday with tours of Australian defence technology companies, highlighting Greece’s interest in strengthening cooperation in advanced defence capabilities and innovation.
