Greek javelin thrower Elina Tzengko secured third place at the Diamond League meeting in Monaco with a best throw of 58.20 metres.
Tzengko produced a consistent series throughout the competition, recording throws of 54.58m, 56.66m, a foul, 58.20m, another foul and 57.91m. Her fourth-round effort proved to be her best mark of the event and secured her place on the podium.
The result reinforced the Greek athlete’s position among the world’s leading javelin throwers, with another podium finish at one of the season’s premier athletics meetings.
China’s Ziyi Yan claimed victory with a winning throw of 68.75m on her final attempt, while Serbia’s Adriana Vilagoš finished second with 63.18m.
Tzengko’s third-place finish capped another impressive performance for Greece at the Monaco Diamond League, where fellow Greek Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou also delivered a world-leading performance in the men’s long jump.
