Australian authorities are investigating the discovery of several pieces of suspected space debris that washed ashore at Forrest Beach in north Queensland.
The Australian Space Agency confirmed it is working with Queensland authorities after the unidentified objects were found on the beach.
Initial assessments indicate the items are likely pressure vessels from a space launch vehicle, consistent with debris from a rocket body that recently re-entered Earth’s atmosphere.
Officials say they have identified a likely source of the debris and are continuing their investigation to confirm its origin. Members of the public are advised not to handle any suspected space debris and to report any findings to local authorities.
