Greek film center awards €1 mln in funding to 20 projects


The Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center (EKKOMED) has approved more than €1 million in funding for 20 film projects across the writing, development and production stages.

The funding, totaling €1,030,374.80, was allocated under the center’s “BASIC” programme for the 2025B cycle, following an evaluation process based on artistic and financial criteria.

At the production stage, five projects received pre-approval for a combined €910,000 out of 20 eligible submissions. Fiction films include “Wild Boars” by Thanasis Neofotistos and “Summer” by Rinios Dragasaki, each receiving €350,000. Documentary projects funded at this stage are “The Empire” by Dimitra Babadiama, “In the Shadow of History. Death in the In-Between Nothing” by Stavros Stagkos, and “The Backgammon of Life” by Stavros Psyllakis.

At the development stage, six projects were approved for a total of €65,000: “Home.Fire” by Alexis Damianos, “The Hallucinations” by Maria Papadopoulou, “Impersonation” by Yorgos Tsemberopoulos, “Koukitsa” by Eleni Alexandraki, “Pikeco” by Dimitris Nakos, and “The Voices and Me” by Kostis Charamountanis.

At the writing stage, nine proposals received a total of €55,374.80 in funding, including “Lou” by Sofia Exarchou, “Billy and Daphne” by Christos Voupouras, “Hotel Omonia” by Nikos Panayotopoulos, “The Roof of the House Is Red” by Asimina Proedrou, “Philoctetes” by Syllas Tzoumerkas and “Winter Blossom” by Vasilis Kekatos.
