ADEDY: Public transport not affected by Wednesday’s strike

Public transport will not participate in the 24-hour strike called by the civil servants’ umbrella union, ADEDY, for Wednesday, the union said.

“Public transport is not part of the public sector, its employees are not unionized by ADEDY and therefore our strike tomorrow will not affect their normal operation,” ADEDY said on Tuesday.

The main strike rally in Athens is scheduled for 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, starting at Klafthmonos Square and then heading to Parliament.

The main demands being brought by unions include wage increases, measures to address rising living costs, improved workplace health and safety, and the permanent hiring of contract workers. ADEDY also criticized proposed constitutional changes affecting job security in the public sector.
