A dockworker on the island of Crete was injured in the head Friday while trying to help moor an incoming ferry, authorities said.

The Coast Guard said the man required hospital treatment after being hit by a roll of twine cast by crew members from the ferry, that was tied to the heavy mooring rope which the worker would normally then attach to a bollard.

The accident occurred in the eastern port of Siteia.
