The body of a young woman was found floating Friday morning in the waters of the Corinth Canal, authorities said.
According to initial information, the victim is a 17-year-old resident of Athens district Psychiko, whose disappearance had been reported Thursday night at the local police station.
Search efforts were launched after her mobile phone signal was detected in the wider Corinth area.
Her parents are currently at the Isthmia Port Authority, which has regional maritime jurisdiction, according to officials.
Local port authorities are at the scene to recover the body. Early indications suggest the death may have been a suicide. An investigation is ongoing.
