A youth weightlifting champion is among three men arrested in connection with the death of a 19-year-old on the island of Kefalonia, authorities said.
The suspects – a 26-year-old local, a 22-year-old Albanian national, and a 23-year-old – allegedly used drugs with the young woman in a rented hotel room before she lost consciousness. The 26-year-old weightlifter then reportedly carried her to Argostoli’s central square, where emergency responders found her unresponsive and transported her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Surveillance footage shows one man carrying the woman while the others follow. All three turned themselves in with their attorneys. No visible injuries were found on her body. A forensic examination is pending.
