Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated Peter Magyar, leader of Hungary’s center-right opposition Tisza party, following his landslide victory in his country’s elections on Sunday.
“Big night for Hungary and Europe! Congratulations Peter Magyar on an impressive victory,” he said in a post on his official social media account on X.
Preliminary election results, based on more than 98% of counted votes, put his Tisza party on course for an extraordinary 138 seats, with Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz on 55 and the far-right Our Homeland on six.
