Police arrested a 32-year-old Turkish national in the Charilaou area of Thessaloniki on Holy Saturday afternoon after he allegedly attempted to evade a routine police check.
During a subsequent investigation, officers from the local crime and investigation unit found that the suspect was subject to an Interpol Red Notice issued by Turkey for alleged offenses under the Turkish Penal Code.
He was taken to the Charilaou-Anatolikis police station, where he was charged with disobedience and violations of immigration law.
He remains in custody, and procedures linked to the international alert are ongoing.
