A Russian man has been arrested in northern Athens on domestic violence charges after his Ukrainian wife fell twice, under unclear circumstances, from the couple’s fourth-floor balcony in the same evening, police said Monday.
The 27-year-old woman managed to survive both falls and was in hospital Monday with severe but non life-threatening injuries.
Police said the woman first fell off the balcony of her fourth-floor flat in the Maroussi suburb on Sunday evening, but landed on the balcony of the apartment just below on the third floor.
She made her way back upstairs and an ambulance was called, but shortly later she came off her balcony again, this time falling all the way to the ground.
The woman was taken to hospital and police arrested her 29-year-old husband. No further details were immediately available.
