Greek authorities extended the short‑stay Visa Express program for Turkish citizens visiting Eastern Aegean islands through April 2027.
The scheme began in April 2024 after a meetingg between Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish Presidetn Recep Tayyip Erdogan, with the European Commission approving a one‑year renewal last year.
The North Aegean regional governor called the extension a positive step, saying it boosts the local economy, tourism and ties with Turkey, and supports the islands’ development and outreach.
