The Greek Easter holiday hours for stores will take effect Thursday, the Athens Trade Association (ESA) announced.

Stores will be open on an expanded schedule in order to accommodate consumers during the Greek Orthodox Easter, while a provision is made for stores being open on Sunday, April 5, on a voluntary basis.

Stores will be open as follows, the week before Easter: Thursday and Friday (April 2-3): 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday (April 4): 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sunday (April 5): 11 a.m.-4 p.m; Monday to Thursday (April 6-9): 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Good Friday (April 10): 1 p.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturday (April 11): 9 a.m.-3 p.m. On Easter Sunday and on Monday (April 12-13), all stores will remain closed.

Department stores, major chains and supermarkets will be open longer hours during the holiday schedule.
