The newly appointed Consul of Greece in Perth, Eleni Georgopoulou, recently met with the city’s Lord Mayor, Basil Zempilas.
According to a social media post by the Consulate, the two discussed ways to “further enhance relations” between Greece and the capital of Western Australia. The talks were described as “fruitful.”
The post playfully noted, “One thing is certain: in Western Australia Greeks stand tall, both metaphorically and literally!” – a lighthearted nod to Zempilas’ height.
This meeting represents another step in strengthening the already strong ties between Greece and the Greek diaspora in Australia.
