Dimitris Kokotas is fighting a very tough battle for his life, 11 months after suffering a severe heart attack. Matina Pagoni, speaking on ANT1’s Morning Show, discussed his condition, highlighting that doctors are undertaking a “challenging” physiotherapy regimen to help him sit up.
Matina Pagoni also pointed out that Dimitris Kokotas has exhibited some emotional reactions.
Dimitris Kokotas: “He Has Started to Show Facial Reflexes,” Says Matina Pagoni
“Dimitris is fighting a very big battle. At this moment, physiatrists are doing their best to provide him with a ‘challenging’ physiotherapy. They have managed to get him to sit up—which is significant—because he was always lying down, and he still doesn’t stand. He sits upright with his torso. This is a small improvement.

He has started to show some reactions on his face, some reflexes. We say that he is having an emotional reaction, meaning that in response to pain or music, he is gradually beginning to express himself through his facial expressions, though he is not speaking or able to communicate with his surroundings. It’s important that, after 11 months, some progress is beginning. It will take much more time; we hope that gradually he will be able to improve further. It requires patience, and it’s not easy for his family.”
