Police announced a ban on demonstrations in downtown Athens on Saturday over the Imia anniversary, citing fears of unrest.
The ban follows reports that the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn and other nationalist groups had planned a demonstration marking the Imia anniversary at the Imia monument in Rigillis Square, while leftist groups scheduled counter-protests.
