Battlestar Galactica actress Tricia Helfer and Spartacus star Manu Bennett will headline AthensCon 2026, Greece’s biggest comics and pop culture festival, in the Athens suburb of Palaio Faliro.
Specifically, the festival returns for its 10th edition from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December 2026. It takes over the Palaio Faliro Indoor Stadium, known as the Tae Kwon Do stadium, for three days.
Organisers said more than 34,000 people visited in 2025. This year, AthensCon 2026 promises comics, anime, film, television, video games, cosplay, board games, talks and workshops for fans of every age.
In addition, the Artist Alley will host 113 Greek artists, from established creators to rising talent. Visitors can meet them, discover original work and buy signed pieces.

Helfer became famous as Number Six in Battlestar Galactica and later appeared in Lucifer and Suits. She also voiced Sarah Kerrigan in StarCraft II and EDI in Mass Effect.
Likewise, Bennett, a New Zealand-born actor of Māori descent, played the gladiator Crixus in Spartacus. He also played Azog the Defiler in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy and Deathstroke in Arrow.
In addition, comics fans can meet Deadpool co-creator Fabian Nicieza and Winter Soldier artist Steve Epting. The list also includes Jesús Merino, Pasqual Ferry, Elena Casagrande, Carlo Barberi, Satoshi Shiki, Enrico Faccini and German cosplayer Kamui Cosplay.
Honour for Dimitris Piatas
AthensCon will also honour Greek actor Dimitris Piatas. For more than 50 years, he has worked in Greek theatre, film and television. He has also voiced well-loved characters in Greek dubbing. In 2025, the Greek Theatre Critics’ Association named him best actor for Andromache at Epidaurus.
Separately, the AthensCon Cosplay Championship takes place on Sunday 6 December at 5pm. For the first time, the winner will travel to Belgrade to represent Greece at the Balkan cosplay contest of Urusai Con 2027.
