Latchi port expansion to benefit Poli Chrysochous

The long-anticipated expansion of Latchi port in Cyprus, which is managed by the Cyprus Ports Authority, is once again gaining momentum. The project, considered a game-changer for Poli Chrysochous in the island’s northwest, promises to bring significant economic and social benefits to the region.

The project had originally been estimated at 53.5 million euros but the budget has now been scaled down to €45 million to ensure its feasibility. Despite earlier delays tied to funding concerns, the government, alongside the ports authority, has prioritized this expansion, which is expected to enhance the area’s appeal as a hub for tourism and coastal activity.

Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades will visit Poli Chrysochous on Friday to meet with local stakeholders and reaffirm the government’s commitment to the project. Discussions will also touch on the long-delayed construction of the Paphos-Poli Chrysochous road, which is now moving forward with revised tender documents. Both the port and road projects are expected to be completed around the same time, marking a significant milestone for the Paphos district.

The project will add 700 meters of piers, 360 m of floating docks and 160 boat berths.
