Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Greek national football team on Saturday ahead of its Nations League clash against Germany, praising the players for their recent performances and confidence.
Mitsotakis met the squad at their hotel, where he spoke with head coach Ivan Jovanovic, Hellenic Football Federation president Makis Gagatsis and the international players ahead of Sunday’s match on October 4.
“You surprised many, but not yourselves,” Mitsotakis told the players, according to a post published on the national team’s official Facebook account.
The Prime Minister congratulated the squad on its performances, highlighting the confidence within the team and its belief in its own abilities.
Gagatsis thanked Mitsotakis for visiting the players, saying the team had demonstrated that it could defeat any opponent.
Jovanovic also highlighted the strong bond between the players and the national team, emphasising their commitment whenever they represent Greece.
“The passion of our players for the national team is unique,” the coach said.
Greece will face Germany on Sunday at 9:45 pm local time as the Nations League campaign continues, with the team looking to build on its recent performances.
