10-year-old girl wounded in Athens café shooting – Greek City Times

A 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital after four gunmen opened fire on a café in Agios Panteleimon shortly before midnight Friday.

The men shot at the front of the premises at 32 Agorakritou Street from a passing car, police said. The girl, the café owner’s daughter, was hit in the left leg. Her mother took her to hospital.

Early reports were unclear on whether a bullet or debris caused the wound. Investigators later said she was struck by a ricochet. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The car believed used in the attack was found soon afterward, fully burned, in Aspropyrgos, west of Athens. Police say a submachine gun was used.

The Directorate for Combating Organized Crime has taken over the investigation.
