The preparation of the plan for the reduction of “tekmiria” – the criteria determining taxable income – which is one of the government’s main priorities, along with the reduction of tax rates for middle-income earners, has entered the final stage.
Through the changes, the National Economy and Finance Ministry aims, on the one hand, to close the windows for tax evasion, and, on the other, to correct the distortions of the current system under which wage earners and pensioners end up being the big “victims” of the implementation of the presumption policy.
The changes expected to be finalized by January 2025 will be based on conclusions prepared by the competent committee of the ministry with the main objective of reducing the presumptions by 30% on average, improving the way they are calculated, and correcting injustices in the minimum amounts of the presumptions for specific taxpayer categories.
