Chicago’s iconic Taste of Greektown festival is set to return from August 28–30, 2026, bringing three days of authentic Greek food, live entertainment and cultural celebrations to the city’s historic Greektown district.
Held along Halsted Street between Adams and Van Buren, the annual festival is the largest celebration of Greek cuisine and culture in Chicago, drawing thousands of visitors to one of the city’s most vibrant ethnic neighbourhoods.
This year’s event will showcase some of Greektown’s best-known restaurants, including Athena Restaurant, 9 Muses Bar & Grill, Mr. Greek Gyros, Ithaki Estiatorio, Spectrum Bar & Grill, and Zeus Restaurant. Many of these family-owned establishments have been serving the community for more than 25 years, preserving generations of Greek culinary traditions. Visitors can also enjoy offerings from Moka & Co.
Beyond the food, Taste of Greektown will feature a full program of live Greek music by Hellas 2000, DJs throughout the weekend, traditional Greek dancing, family-friendly activities and local shopping. Festivalgoers can browse businesses such as Athenian Candle Co., a family business with more than a century of history in Greektown, and Spavia Day Spa.
One of the festival’s highlights will be the popular gyros-eating contest, scheduled for Saturday, August 29 at 5 p.m., with on-site registration opening at 3 p.m.
For more than 60 years, Chicago’s Greektown has been the heart of the city’s Greek community, combining authentic restaurants, cafés and cultural attractions with the energy of the nearby West Loop. The neighbourhood remains one of the largest concentrations of Greek restaurants in the United States and continues to celebrate its rich Hellenic heritage.
The 36th annual Taste of Greektown is presented by the Greektown Chamber of Commerce with support from Greektown SSA #16.
The festival is free to attend, with a suggested donation supporting the Greektown Chamber of Commerce.
