Authorities issued a prohibition on departures from the two Attica ports, impacting travellers heading to several Greek islands during the busy summer holiday period.
However, ferry routes from the port of Piraeus are continuing as scheduled, with passengers advised to check with their ferry operators before travelling as weather conditions may cause further changes.
The decision comes as strong winds sweep across the region, creating difficult conditions for vessels operating in open waters.

Meanwhile, emergency crews across Greece continue to battle several wildfires, including a major blaze in Rethymno, Crete, where firefighters are fighting to contain two active fronts and evacuations have been ordered in several areas.
A separate wildfire has also affected Andros, where firefighting forces have been reinforced following a blaze near Paleopoli. A firefighter was reportedly injured during operations, while residents in another settlement were evacuated as a precaution.
