The CommBank Socceroos have received their updated FIFA Men’s World Ranking following the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup™ 2026.
Before the tournament, Australia sat 27th in the world. They have now slipped one position to 28th after exiting in the Round of 32 via a penalty shootout against Egypt.
In the group stage, Tony Popovic’s side picked up a strong 2-0 win over Türkiye, suffered a 2-0 defeat to the United States, and played out a goalless draw against Paraguay.
Australia ultimately finished 22nd in the final tournament standings.
The Socceroos remain the third-highest ranked nation from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), behind Japan (17th) and IR Iran (22nd), with Korea Republic falling seven places to 32nd.
Greece, meanwhile, sit in 46th position with 1473.19 points.
Spain claimed the top spot in the world rankings after defeating reigning champions Argentina in the final. Norway were the biggest movers, climbing 12 places to 19th, while Tunisia dropped the most, falling 12 positions to 57th.
