Greek police arrested three people during a large-scale anti-drug operation across Attica, seizing significant quantities of narcotics and cash while dismantling an alleged drug trafficking network.
Officers from the Sub-Directorate for Drug Enforcement, part of the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime, carried out the coordinated operation on the afternoon and evening of July 8, arresting two Greek nationals and one foreign national, aged 43, 36 and 26.
The investigation began after police received intelligence alleging that the 43-year-old suspect was involved in drug trafficking. Investigators used surveillance, intelligence gathering and profiling techniques to establish his alleged criminal activity before launching the operation.
Police first arrested the 36-year-old and 26-year-old suspects after allegedly finding them in possession of two packages containing MDMA, which investigators believe they had purchased earlier from the 43-year-old.
A subsequent search of the 43-year-old’s residence uncovered cocaine, heroin, MDMA, ketamine, crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy tablets, along with substances allegedly used in drug preparation, including gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), paraffin oil and almond oil.
According to Hellenic Police, officers seized approximately 90 grams of cocaine, 1.18 kilograms of MDMA, 30 grams of heroin, 121 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 129 grams of ketamine, 223 ecstasy tablets and nine additional narcotic tablets.
Investigators also confiscated around five litres of GBL, one litre each of paraffin oil and almond oil, drug packaging materials, laboratory equipment, two digital precision scales, 13 closed-circuit security cameras and a mobile phone.
Authorities further seized €46,250 in cash, 20,000 Colombian pesos and 46 Romanian lei.
Police estimate the group’s expected financial gain from the alleged trafficking operation exceeded €125,000.
The three suspects appeared before the competent public prosecutor, while police said one of the men has previously come to the attention of authorities for similar offences and other criminal activity.
Police emphasised that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
