Faliro air show to celebrate Air Force’s 95th anniversary

Greece’s Air Force is celebrating its 95th anniversary with an air show Sunday above southern Athens involving historic aircraft like its iconic, airworthy Spitfire fighter as well as modern jets, with the participation of Britain’s Red Arrows aerobatic team.

The display will start at 6 p.m. with members of the public invited to view it from the Flisvos beach in Faliro, in front of the statue of Constantine Paleologos. There is no entry fee.

The Air Force said the air show will include flights by fighter jets taking part in the NATO Tiger Meet 26 exercise in southern Greece, Greece’s Zeus and Daedalos aerobatics teams and the Hawk T1 jets of the Red Arrows – who are in Greece for five weeks of training.
