The decision to move the Parnitha Casino to a more central location was considered essential by Regency Entertainment, given the anticipated competition from the casino under construction at Elliniko.

As soon as the news of the move became known, questions were raised about the future of the historic building on Mount Parnitha, north of Athens. Another building close by, the Sanatorium, also stands empty after being abandoned decades ago. Both belong to the Hellenic Public Property Company (ETAD), which seems eager to put them to good use rather than leaving them to chance.

“A study has already been assigned to an international consulting firm on how the facilities of Mont Parnes could be utilized, as well as the Sanatorium, which had previously operated as a hotel unit,” sources with knowledge of the matter at ETAD point out.

Once the study, expected to outline the basic guidelines for the potential uses of the facilities, is completed, a market survey will follow with the aim of clearly capturing the real investment interest. The plan is specific: By 2028, the specifications will be finalized, so that a tender for the selection of a contractor can be proclaimed.
