Farmers staged a protest in the central square of Malgara, near Thessaloniki, on Saturday, deploying about 35 tractors.

The demonstrators later moved toward the Patra-Athens-Thessaloniki-Evzoni (PATHE) motorway, where they parked along a service road without disrupting traffic.

Farmers said they were protesting rising production costs, noting that fertilizer prices have increased from about 600 euros per ton to around 1,000 euros, while diesel has risen from roughly 1.5 euros to 2 euros per liter.

The protest dispersed shortly after 1.30 p.m.

Participants warned they would escalate their action if the government fails to address their demands. [AMNA]
