Doctors in a Thessaloniki hospital have successfully reattached the finger of a five-year-old child that was severed after getting caught in a school door, state ERT television said Friday.

The accident occurred Thursday at a Thessaloniki kindergarten, when a classroom door closed on the boy’s hand during a break from class, severing part of one index finger. The precise circumstances of the accident are under investigation.

The boy was discharged from hospital Friday.
