Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE) subsidiary Grid Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding with 4iG Group of Albania, it said on Wednesday, to explore strategic partnerships in telecommunications and cross-border digital infrastructure.
The two sides are planning the exchange of specialized technical know-how and best practices, for a joint development and operation of telecommunications networks that will boost connectivity between Albania, Greece and beyond.
Talks focused on developing an overland interconnection of high-capacity fiber optics between Greece and Albania.
The initiative’s aim is to create a resilient, digital corridor linking the networks of the two companies, improving cross-border and international connectivity from the Mediterranean to the main European points of presence.
In addition, the agreement foresees the extension of cooperation of the two sides with third-party strategic partners for joint planning, procurement, implementation, operation, and exploitation of a new submarine fiber optics cable system extending to the Adriatic and the Mediterranean.
