Sites of national memory, such as the Kaisariani shooting range, do not need self-appointed “guardians” or would-be claimants. They belong to everyone. History cannot be honored through bans and exclusions. Rather, it is honored and revitalized when it is studied and discussed, allowing all perspectives on the past to be expressed and debated in the public sphere.
