Fines imposed on fuel stations over price cap

Fines imposed on fuel stations over price cap

Violations in fuel pricing were identified during inspections by the Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer Protection, and fines totaling €54,000 will be imposed on nine fuel stations.

As announced by the authority, coordinated inspections were carried out over the past three weeks in Crete, Aitoloakarnania, Magnesia, Thessaloniki and Trikala, as part of intensified efforts to enforce the fuel price cap.

The inspections found that the maximum price limits were exceeded for both unleaded gasoline and diesel at three stations in Aitoloakarnania and six in Thessaloniki. Additionally, some stations failed to register required data in the Fuel Price Observatory, in violation of their obligations.

The administrative fines will be imposed on all nine stations for these violations. The authority emphasized that it conducts systematic and targeted inspections across the country and will show zero tolerance for practices of unfair profiteering.
