Two construction proposals have been filed for the first phase of the long-planned highway linking Paphos with Poli Chrysochous, in western Cyprus, covering the stretch from Agia Marinouda to Stroumbi. The Cypriot Transport Ministry confirmed the offers were received on Friday via an open tender process.
The lowest bid, amounting to €124.85 million, was submitted by Cyfield Construction. A joint venture between Araco Construction CY and Geostroy AD proposed a higher figure of €128.94 million, not including VAT.
This phase of the project spans about 15.5 kilometers and includes final design work along with full construction of the road. The planned highway will initially feature two lanes, along with an additional climbing lane where necessary. The design allows for expansion to four lanes at a later stage.
Plans for the route include a grade-separated interchange connecting to the Limassol-Paphos motorway near Agia Marinouda. Further along, a junction will be built at the future location of the Tsada interchange, while a roundabout is planned beyond Stroumbi at a site reserved for another future interchange linking Stroumbi and Kathikas.
